This page is in the works and much more information will be added over the next few weeks. If you have content you would like to see added, please email it to tnrtexasnetwork@gmail.com. 05.08.2026
Pet Peace of Mind Program - Hospice Austin can help care for your pet throughout your illness. It provides helping hands and financial assistance, including:
Help with feeding, walking, play and affection
Delivering pet food and routine pet medications
Coordinating routine veterinary care
Assistance with re-homing resources for the pet, if requested
Fospice Program - SPCA of Texas. “Fospice” combines the terms “Foster” and “Hospice” to refer to foster parents who take in animals for the rest of that animal’s life and provide the care they need to be happy and comfortable. They place animals that have chronic illnesses that require medical supervision or geriatric animals that still have a few happy months or years left with a family that can care for their needs.
Operation Kindness, based in Carrollton, TX, offers comprehensive foster programs to support vulnerable pets, including specialized options like "Foster First" (trial adoption), "Kindness on the Go" (day trips), and "Bucket List" (hospice care). They provide necessary supplies and medical care for pets in need of temporary homes, allowing individuals to assist puppies, seniors, or pets with illnesses.
CTSPCA Foster Care Program - Central Texas SPCA (Leander). All Foster Care Volunteers must live within the local area (45-60 miles of shelter). These are some of the most common reasons for animals needing a foster home:
Puppies and kittens that need to be bottle-fed and/or are not old enough to be spayed/neutered (a prerequisite for adoption at our shelter)
The pet might need treatment (like heartworm treatment) or some extra TLC
The pet might have a harder time emotionally living in a shelter and would do better in a home.
If you are interested in becoming a Foster Care Volunteer, the next step is to complete the Foster Application. A copy of the Foster Contract is available for review. Contact their Shelter Manager at 512-260-7722 or via e-mail with any questions. Please write “Foster Care Inquiry” in your e-mail subject line.
Austin Pets Alive! Cat Program Pawspice Program - APA! seeks people willing to donate time and space to special cats and dogs who are facing the end of their lives. Austin Pets Alive! provides the medical expertise, and support. Every foster who takes home a pawspice animal says the same thing. “I’m the lucky one.”
Lizzy’s Animal Hospice - Dripping Springs. Lizzy’s mission is to offer sanctuary in a home environment to elder (10+ years old) and/or terminally ill pups in kill shelters, or who would ultimately end up in a kill shelter, focusing on health, finding forever families, or providing loving end-of-life care and quality of life decisions, if needed.
Living Grace Canine Ranch - This Senior Dog Life Care Sanctuary. A 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to saving, serving, and valuing the lives of displaced, unadoptable and unwanted Texas senior canines. Our mission of mercy celebrates all breeds, regardless of physical, emotional,
and medical challenges.
