Trappers Corner — Trap Chat

This page is where trappers can share their thoughts, successes, recommendations, challenges, special photos, and more. It is also a place to pose questions, share frustrations, ask for things needed and celebrate successes. Hopefully, this page will help those interested in trapping gain a better idea of what trapping is really all about… the good, the bad and the ugly! It can be hard work and yet, so meaningful. To contribute, just put “Trappers Corner” in the subject line and send us an email or a message on the Contact page and include your desired content.

We might like to believe that there is one right way to trap a cat but that could not be further from the truth. Trappers make decisions about what kind of trap and bait will be best in the particular situation, what placement is best and what time of day will likely be most successful. And often the plans change continuously along the way.

Maybe it is determined that the cat seems to be lactating, or has a serious injury, or there are more cats than originally thought, or the cat is in a precarious location, and so on. Skilled trappers do what they can to try to trap their target(s). Sometimes they might go into a drainage ditch, down manholes or even under a house!

And yes, Dawn did get the cat!
